Since opening our doors in 2008, we’ve played with the notion of taking the traditional hotel gift shop and re-imagining it in a contemporary and varied urban context. By capturing inspiration from the classic general store, the museum shop and the flea market stand, we’ve worked really hard to create unique destinations for classic and modern goods and goodies. Each of our stores are filled with a sense of whimsy and nostalgia, which caters to the sensible and the not so sensible; travelers and neighbours alike.
Our lovingly curated shops stock items from around the world. While, at the same time allowing us to support our local art buddies and feature homegrown talent. We're so proud to be Canadian and show off our nation's eclectic heritage alongside global treasures and rare antiques.
We hope that when you step into one of our Drake General Stores, it will instantly spark curiosity and a feeling of playful comfiness. We’ve designed our shops each with their own distinct personality, which is reflective of their neighbourhood: our Drake General Store signature can be observed through each store's reclaimed wood cabinetry, hung recycled fixtures and found mid-century modern furniture. Our stores each bare a neon purple cross that was modeled after the styling of European pharmacies; it now acts as a beacon, letting guests know that they’ve arrived at our cultural crossroads.
Each of our stores: Queen, Yonge north of Eglinton, Bathurst and now our antique concept space, Hot Hunt, continues Drake's mandate for providing a community based hotbed for culture, an energetic hub for visual and performance art, dining, hospitality and, now, treasure hunting.
